Os the Gumms and their VJ}^
I, rTp*He chief of all is Gum-Arabic^y
J that which is white;, clear and
brittle ^ the Gum-water of it is made
thus:
Tike Gum Arabic^ ? bruife it and tie it
up in a fine clean linnen cloath^ and put
it into a convenient quantity ospure siring
water, in a glaj? or earthen vefsely letting
the Gum remain there till it is dijfolved $
which done$ is the water is notjlijsenough^
put more gum into the cloath $ but is too
jiijs, add more water : of which Gum-
water have two sorts by you, the one
strong, the other weak} of which you
may make a third at pleasure.
