Take Spring water three pound,Roch
Alom three ounces, Roman Vitriol, Or-
piment one ounce, Verdigriefe twenty
sour grains, Sal gem three ounces, boil
all together, and when it begins to
boil, put in Tartar and Bay Salt of each
half an ounce 5 continue the boiling a
good while, then take it srom the sire,
strike the Iron over therewith, drie it a-
gainft the sire and burnifti it.
I V, To lay Gold on Iron or other Me-
tals,
Take liquid Varnifli one pound, oyl
os Linfeed and Turpentine, of each one
ounce \ mix them well together; ftrike
this over any Metal, and afterwards lay
on the gold or filver, and when it is dry
polilb it.
V. To Gild Silver or Br os with Gold
water.
Take Quicksilver two ounces, put it
on the fire % in a Crucible, and when it
begins to finoak, put into it an Angel
os sine Gold $ then take it osf immedi-
atly, for the Gold will be prefently difc
(blved; then if it be too thin, st rain a
part
