Heller'sches Kupferstich-Verzeichniß

Bamberg, 1850

According to a handwritten note, the unbound ‘Heller'sche Kupferstich-Verzeichniß’ (Heller's Copperplate Engraving Catalogue) was compiled in 1850 by library director Michael Stenglein (in office from 1848 to 1874), i.e. during the transition phase from Joseph Heller's (1798-1849) estate to what was then still the Royal Library (now the State Library) in Bamberg, by library clerk Caspar Schoen. The catalogue follows the collector's (folder) system, which was dissolved between 1851 and 1854, and lists individual items or collections consisting of drawings, prints, coins and medals, stained glass, printing forms, etc., supplemented by an estimated value; the column for comments was mostly left blank.
