Heller'sches Kupferstich-Verzeichniß

Bamberg, circa 1850

According to a handwritten note by library director Michael Stenglein (who served from 1848 to 1874) the bound ‘Heller'sches Kupferstich-Verzeichniß’ (Heller's Copperplate Engraving Catalogue) was compiled of the Heller Collection, which was handed over to the then Royal Library (now the State Library) in Bamberg in 1850 ‘in a completely disordered state in worn book folders’. The catalogue follows the original (folder) order of collector Joseph Heller (1798-1849), which was dissolved between 1851 and 1854, and lists individual items and collections; The drawings, prints, paintings, coins and medals, stained glass, printing forms, etc. are supplemented by an estimated value.
