GERARD DOW.

45. A lady, elegantly dressed in a green silk corset, bor-
dered with fur, seated, playing on a virginal, which is placed
on a table covered with a Persian carpet; some music books
lie on the table, and a violoncello stands against it in front.
The lady is represented sitting at a window, the curtain of
which is drawn up on one side. A company of three persons
and a servant waiting on them, are seen in the back of the
room. Descamps mentions this picture, which was then in the
collection of the Marechai dTssenhein, 1754.
