Scbr6fi-: from hence, the plain is four miles across to the village of Vloka,
which is a small place situated on the side of a range of hills, which shut
up the valley on this side, and leave only space sufficient for the passage
of the Alphehis between them and the range which follows the left bank
of the river, westward towards the sea, terminating in the point near which
is situated Volanza. This pass of the Alpheius, through which is the
passage of the river from the valley of Olympia into that of Schrefi, is
extremely beautiful, both from the romantic variety of the rugged ground
as well as from the admirable disposition of the pine-woods in copses and
clusters, with the noble Alpheius running through the midst of them.

The direct road to Olympia passes through Vloka, and over the
hills, on the top of which are the huts called the village of Drouva, from
whence it descends by a fountain into the vale of the Cladeus, which
stream it crosses at a mill where are some Boman remains, and there falls
into the road from Miraica to Lalla. It is four short hours from Pyrgo
to Olympia."
