in the exhibition designed by Mr. Reeves,
there are, at least, thirty others by his
pupils, all of which show clearly his
powerful influence. The most meritorious
are, perhaps, the enamel placques by
Miss K. Bridle, and the jewel casket by
Miss Frances Burroughs. A pleasing
characteristic of the work of Mr. Reeves
and his pupils is its complete practica-
bility. These people are craftsmen in the
best sense of the word, and whatever they
make is fashioned with absolute precision
and functions perfectly. ana
Irish lace is much more thought of
abroad than at home, and a foreign
visitor would be surprised to find that
there are only ten examples of lace shown
in the exhibition. All these are Limerick
lace. It is disappointing to find nothing
in the style of Carrickmacross. Embroidery
is also somewhat sparsely represented,

though what there is, is good. Some of
the best pieces come from the Cuala
Industries, which are managed by the
Misses Yeats. Special notice should be
given to an embroidered fire-screen, The
Garden, designed by Miss Elizabeth C.
Yeats and executed by her sister, Miss
Lily Yeats. The embroidery is excellent
both in design and execution, but the
woodwork of the screen is quite un-
worthy. The most original items in
this section are the needlework pictures
and panels designed by Miss Wilhelmina
Geddes, who is known in Ireland as a
remarkable artist in stained glass. These
needlework designs, and the design in
black and white on the cover of the
catalogue of the exhibition, show that her
talent is many sided. She seems to have
