THE Honourable John McWhae, Agent-
General for Victoria, informs us that he
has received from Melbourne particulars in
regard to the National War Memorial to be
erected in that City at a cost of not ex-
ceeding £250,000. £10 0 0

The competition will be open to archi-
tects, artists and others who in the opinion
of the promoters are Australasians, although
not necessarily residing in Australia, or
British subjects who are resident in the
Commonwealth. 0000
The competition will be divided into two
parts, namely, preliminary and final.
Designs for the preliminary competition
will be received by the Rt. Hon. The Lord
Mayor of Melbourne, Chairman of the

Executive Committee, Town Hall, Mel-
bourne, Australia, up to but not later than
June 30th, 1923. From the suggestions
submitted for the preliminary competition
six designs will be selected, the authors of
which will be invited to elaborate their
schemes and to submit final designs. Upon
the receipt of these a final selection will be
made of the design to be placed first, and
each of the five unsuccessful competitors
will receive an honorarium of £500. All of
the six designs so submitted will become
the property of the promoters. The

A charge of £2 2s. per copy is made by
the National War Memorial Authorities for
the Conditions of Competition, which may be
obtainedfrom the Agent-General in London
(Victoria House, Melbourne Place, Strand).
