A SMALL BEDROOM, WITH RECESS FOR HANGING-WARDROBE (PAGES IO, 13, 14, 16 AND 2l)
for a “ stuff over ” chair, as a good example is really comfortable and com-
paratively inexpensive. On the other hand, luxuriously upholstered chairs
and settees have become almost prohibitive inprice forpeopleof moderate
means. As cheap upholstery is at any time false economy, it is well to have
as few such articles as possible and to pay the price for the best quality ob-
tainable.
The conventional cabinet, regarded as essential in the drawing-rooms ot
the past, is slowly disappearing from modest establishments, and it is cer-
tainly one of the items which, under existing circumstances, can well be
dispensed with. It is rarely that the occupant of a small house possesses
china or bric-a-brac worthy of the conspicuous prominence such pieces
