ADDITIONS TO “THE HUT,” COW-
BEECH HILL, BY L. SUTTON WOOD
HOUSE building in these days of high prices is something of an
adventure and to build at a moderate and reasonable expendi-
ture is difficult indeed. A great deal depends, however, on
the methods employed. In the present case the owner was
able to secure for a very moderate sum a really fine site in the heart of
Sussex, on which stood a small cottage, perhaps three hundred years
old, in good condition. This little place had been used as a week-end
retreat before any additions were begun, and in the meantime the lawn
was laid out and a start made on the flower and vegetable gardens.
