Stele. Found lying on the ground outside of the town, east of the south-
east corner. Height 1.11-1.1901.; width 3i~341/2cm. The upper part
of the face is finished, the lower part is rough. Height of letters 7—10 cm.

Σηος Μογε^ου ετ(ών) μβ', εύ^όξως ζ·<(σ<ζς).

For Σηες, Arabic Shai\ see no. 61. Μογε^ος, Arabic Mugaid, occurs
several times in inscriptions from the Hauran; cf. nos. 131; 134; 137; 138.

125. Stele. Found in the southern part of the ancient cemetery east of the
town. Height 85 cm.; width 32 cm. The upper part of the face is half
finished, the lower part is rough. Height of letters 5-9 cm.

Κεα/ζος ετ(ών) λεζ.

The Arabic original is Kaiyam.

126. Stele.

On a stele from the same cemetery. The base is embedded in



the ground. Height above the ground 47 cm.; width 30-33 cm.
The face is quite rough. Height of letters /3 cm. (ξ i21/3cm.)

Βενα6·// Αυτωνήζ[ς] (or ’Αντωνί(ν)[ου]) ετα εςζ.
Βευζζθ'4 is the Arabic Banat·, the masculine Βαναθος occurs in
a number of inscriptions, viz. Wad. 2070Z; 2247; A.B.E.S. ill
417. The copy seems to point to the restoration ’Αντωυία[ς]. If this
be the correct reading, we must suppose that the name of the
mother has been substituted for the name of the father, as in M.S.M.

p. 238, no. 1, where, however, the reading is not certain. ’Αντωνί(ν)[ου] is a possible
conjecture.
