Probably this lintel was broken near the right jamb. Probably, then, there was
originally a second disk and several letters more upon the stone, so that the whole
block was from two to two and one half meters in length. ^Probably the lost part of
the inscription contained εκτισεν, built {this), or some such verb.
940. Lintel. Two fragments of a lintel, found about 100 feet south of No. 938.
Fragment a was lying upon the ground: it is 70 cm. long at the top,’ and 49 cm. high:
it is broken at both ends and at the bottom. At the right end is a part of a disk,
with a handsome, broad-arm cross in relief below the surface, within an incised square.
The letters, 11 cm. high, are incised in an incised plate, 33 cm. long and 6 cm. below
the top of the stone. Fragment b was dug out of the ground. It is 48 cm. long,
and 57 cm. high: it is broken at both ends. At the left end is a part of the same disk.
The letters, 13 cm. high, are incised within an incised plate.
