"The ITaJi system," in vogue amongst us for about 1&0
years, "requires the attendance of two rival parties of songsters,
on the same occasion ; one party begins and the other replies.
Originally the answers were composed by taking notes pre-
viously of the songs which would be sung by the opening party;
