Biographical notes


Major architectural works and comissions:
1904 - collaboration with Hans Poelzig on a model house for the exhibition titled: "Ausstellung fur Kunsthandwerk und Kunstgewerbe"
in Friebeberg (in the southern part of the city).
1911 - collaboration with Hans Poelzig on the design of an office building on ul. Ofiar Oswi^cimskich 38-40 (Junkernstrasse) in
Wroclaw.
1911-1912 - collaboration with Hans Poelzig on the design forthe Sulphuric Acid Factory in Luban (Lauban).
1929 - Wohnung und Werkraum Ausstellung (WUWA): WUWA model housing estate - multi-unit house No. 9 on ul. Tramwajowa 4
(Uechtritzweg) and detached house No. 28 on ul. Dembowskiego 9 (Zimpelerstrasse).
He also remodelled the Thalia Theatre and Volkshaus in Weisswasser (Oberlausitz).

HEINRICH LAUTERBACH
Born March 2nd 1893 in Wroclaw, died March 16th 1976 in Biberach am Riss.
Studied sculpture under the direction of Hans Poelzig at the Akademie fur Kunst und Kunstgewerbe. In 1913-1914 studied architecture at
the Technical University in Darmstadt. Released from the army, he continued his studies in Dresden, under the direction of Martin Dulfer.
In 1920-1923 he worked at Hans Poelzig's design office in Berlin and then at the design office of Henschel & Sohn in Kassel (locomotive
works). In 1925 he became an independent architect. He was a member of the Bund der Deutschen Architekten (BDA) and the Deutscher
Werkbund (from 1923). On his initiative the Werbund's Silesian section (Schlesischer Landesverband des Deutschen Werkbundes) was
founded in 1925 with Lauterbach as its president. In 1929 he joined the association of architects "Der Ring". He taught at the Akademie
fur Kunst und Kunstgewerbe in Wroclaw (1930-1932), the Department of Architecture of the Technical University in Stuttgart (from 1947)
and Staatlichen Werkakademie in Kassel (from 1950).
Major architectural works and commissions:
1926-1927 - designs residential and commercial buildings in Muchobor Wielki (Gross Mochbern), a residential building on ul. Kraszews-
kiego (Einbaumstrasse), residential buildings for Siedlungsgesellschaft Breslau A.G. on ul. Slubicka (Liegnitzerstrasse) in Wroclaw.
1929 - designs the residential complex on ul. Scinawska (Steinauerstrasse) in Wroclaw.
1928 - designs the residence of Graf von Strachwitz in Kadlub in Upper Silesia.
1929 - Wohnung und Werkraum Ausstellung (WUWA): WUWA model housing estate - designs detached house No. 35 on ul. Zielonego
D^bu 17/17a (Zur Griinen Eichen) and three units Nos. 13, 14, 15 in row housing on ul. Tramwajowa 12, 14, 16 (Uechtritzweg).
1930-1932 -designs the house of Jaroslav Hasek and the house of Dr. Schmelowsky in Jablonec (Gablonz an der Nis).
1933 - designs the house of Dr. Kos on ul. Karlowicza 14-18 (Beethovenstrasse) in Wroclaw.
1934 -designs the house of Dr. Ju ng ling in Opole (Oppeln).
1935 -designs the house of H. Regenhart-Zimdin in Dubrovnik.
1936 -designs the house of D. Scholz in Sci^gny, Great Mountains (Steinseiffen, Riesengebirge).
1938 -designs the house of H.L. Nesselgrund in Klodzko County, near Polanica Zdroj (Grafschaft Glatz bei Bad Altheide).
1949-1950 -designs the model housing estate for refugees in Crailsheim, under the auspices of Forschungsgemeinschaft „Bauen und
Wohnen" in Stuttgart.
1954-1956 -designs a youth hostel in Kassel.
1956-1958 -designs a school in Steinatal, in the Ziegenhain district.
1961-1963 -designs a dormitory in Steinatal, in the Ziegenhain district.

LUDWIG MOSHAMER
Born in 1885 in Passau, died ca. 1942 (he was probably killed during the Battle of Stalingrad).
Little is known of his family background and early professional activity. He studied at the Technical University in Munich. During his
years in Wroclaw he collaborated with Max Berg on a number of projects, including: the Centennial Hall; spatial development plan
for the city (1919-1921); designs high-rises by the Grunwaldzki Bridge (Kaiser Brucke) (1921-1922); water-power plants, (northern and
southern Suderoder) on the Odra River by Grodzka Street (Burgstrasse) (1921-1925); exhibition hall (Messehalle) and monumental col-
onnade (Messehof) at the exhibition grounds surrounding the Centenary Hall (1922-1925). From 1934 he worked at the design office of
the Deutsche Reichsbundes fur Freilichtspiele. In 1934-1938 he designed the so called Thingstatte, in Freiburg-an-der-Unstrut, Halle
(Brandberge), Schmideberg (Dubener Heide), Julich (Koln-Achen), Kamenz (Saxony), Passau, Schwarzenberg (Saxony - Erzgebirge). He
