This is reckoned bifhop Bramhall’s principal work. The other pieces
in this fir# part are of a polemic kind again# the papifis. The fecond
part is again# the Englifh fedtaries, and comprehends, 1. 44 Fair warning
44 to take heed of the Scottifii difcipline, as being of all others the mo#
44 injurious to the civil magiftrate, mo# opprefiive to the fubjedt, moft
44 pernicious to bothwritten in the beginning of the civil wars.
2. 44 The Serpent’s Salve ; or, a remedy for the biting of an afp
written in vindication of Charles I. wherein the author endeavours to
prove, that power is not originally inherent in, and derived from the
people ; firR printed 1643. 3. 44 Vindication of himfelf and the epifcopal
44 clergy from the prelbyterian charge of popery, as it is managed by Mr.
44 Baxter, in his treatife of the Grotian religion.” The third part is
