General Doyle’s brigade marched into the
camp of Alexandria on the 9th of August.
On the 11th, General Hope’s brigade arrived ;
and, on the 12th, the reserve under General
Moore. The Nile, having risen upwards of
thirty feet on the 13th, twenty-six English
and Turkish gun-boats, with much difficulty
working- through Lake-Maadie into the inun-
dation, they proceeded to attack the French
