and the inscription 'Sigismundi Augusti Regis Poloniae Monumentum' together with the date of the binding
was on the back, also surrounded by an ornamental framing. Such is the binding of the famous work by
Nicolaus Copernicus De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium, now in the Czartoryski Library in Cracow.

The National Museum in Cracow boasts a collection of sermons entitled Nuntius Salutis in beautiful
Renaissance binding of black goatskin, with the armorial bearings of Anne the Jagiellon (The Polish Eagle
and Snake of the Sforzas), which was made in 1588 or shortly after. Anne the Jagiellon also employed the
Cracow book-binder Balthasar Langno who signed his work with the initial B, his work demonstrating

Persian influences. Another valuable volume, now in the Jagiellonian Library in Cracow, is The Psalter
of Anne Jagiellon, dated 1582, the binding of which is embroidered in pearls.
