overproduetion of the dozen-articles among the Berlin
cuivre-poli produets has unfortunately brought discredit
upon the artistic industrial value ot individual Performances
of a better quality, though an improvement in that respect
has been observed of late. Products of chased sheet-brass
have at times turned up almost everywhere where chased-
copper work is eultivated. — Tin-foundery with artistic
elaboration has scarcely extended its limits beyond Munich
and a few other towns of Bavaria, whilst etching on tin
as amateurs' art has gained a greater extension. — Zinc-
industry has progressed in a strikingly rapid manner at
the side of the small bronzes, for which it affords a
cheäper Substitute, particularly in the illuminating line;
but for a developement of real artistic-industrial activity
there remained but little opportunity.
