Nous avons voulu, en présentant sur une même page deux
objets de destination identique, mais exécutés à quatre siècles
«te distance, montrer que le xme siècle l'emportait ici, comme
cela lui arrive souvent, en bon goût, en rationalisme et en exé-
cution soignée, sur les siècles postérieurs. — Le brasero,
%. 32H, est en bronze et a été exécuté par Pedro Cerdanya,
en 1G75, pour la salle des Cent, à l'hôtel de ville de Barcelone.

We have purposedly figured on this one plate two ustensils
destined to the very same use but executed at au interval of
four centuries, to show that in this instance as in many other,
the xni,b century is far superior to the following as regaids
good taste, propriety and careful workmanship. ïhe biazuro,
fig. 3211, is in bronze and was executed in 1075 by Pedro
Cerdanya for the Guildhall of Barcclona.
