Le fond de ce casque, véritable chef-d'œuvre que tout le monde
peut admirer dans une des vitrines de la galerie d'Apollon, au
Louvre, est à patine noire, ainsi que diverses autres parties telles
que la crête,etc., etc. Les godrons de la partie inférieure sont en
émail opaque alternés avec des émaux translucides; quelques
euillages sont émaillés aussi; le reste est doré.

The ground of this morion, a perfect chef-d'œuvre that every
body may admire in one of the glass stands of the Apollo gal-
lery at the Louvre, is black as well as the ground of the other parts
such as the crest, etc., etc. The godroons'of the visor are in ena-
mels alternately translucid and opaque. The garlands are partly
enamelled; the remainder is gilt.
