Il est à coup sûr intéressant de montrer comment les Persans
du siècle précédent décoraient les canons de leur fusil, et l'on
ne nous blâmera pas d'avoir fait graver les exemples ci-dessus.
— On remarquera toutefois que leur faïence émaillée de la même
époque offre des motifs décoratifs autrement ingénieux et gracieux.

It is undoubtedly interesting to show how the Persians of tlie
last century ornamented their gun barrels, and noue will blamc
us for reproducing the above spécimens. We need not however
observe that the ornamentation of the earthenware of the samc
epoch présents designs far more original and gracious.
