The splondid «château» of Aîay-le-Rideau, 011e of the «chefs-
d'œuvre» of French Renaissance architectural art, scems to have
thoroughly insnired the modem designers of the above chimney-
picce. As regards décorative effect it is quite at par with the
ornamentation of olden times, and claims attention both for tlie
beauty of its design and harmonious brightness of ils toning.
