The group of the Virgin and Infant Clirist, in low relief,
occupies the centre of the article. The vase destincd to contain the
holy water, the stamp proper, shows the face of Christ, and
although it projects, forms part of the openworked scrolls which
frame the rectangular central tablet rounded at its upper part,
and upon which stands ont the bas-relief. The ornaments in
winch the cliimerœ play an important part, are happily dis
posed, but the exécution Ieaves somowhat to be desired.
