On connaît les admirables décorations sculptées ou peintes
du château de Blois. On demeure ébloui à la vue de tant, de
poutres délicatement peintes, de pièces aux riches lambris
et aux carrelages harmonieux et variés, de cheminées gran-
dioses, etc., etc. — Nous montrons aujourd'hui deux frag-
ments peints de l'Oratoire de la Reine. — Les murs de ce
retrait sont ornés d'une série de rectangles que remplissent
des nielles délicates et savantes dont nous montrons ici deux
exemples.

Every body knows the splendid décorative designs either
sculptured or painted, of the Château of Blois : the num-
berless beams so delicately painted, the halls with their
gorgeous wainscoting, the pavings so varied and harmonious,
the grand chimney pièces, the whole ornamentation altogether
dazzle both sight and mind. The fragments shown above are
borrowedfrom the Queen's Oratory. — The walls of this chapel
are decorated with rectangles ornainented with délicate and
élever nielloes as illustrated by the above drawings.
