Cette porte, que l'on peut accuser peut-être de trop de pro-
fusion, semble plus l'œuvre d'un sculpteur que d'un architecte,
et celui-ci n'a certainement indiqué que l'agencement principal,
laissant à son collaborateur la liberté d'orner l'ensemble à sa
fantaisie. On sait qu'à cette époque la liberté du sculpteur
n'avait guère de limites.

The orhamenUtion of this door entrance from the church
of Auxon is rather profuse and is much more the work of a
sculptor than that of anarchitect, mast probablythe Iatler gave
the gêneraioutline, leaving to his fellow-artist full liberty of orna-
îmnting it according to his fancy and ideas. As every body knows,
during the xvi'1' century. the sculptor's fancy had no limits.
