TO ENLARGE, OR TO DIMINISH, AN OBJECT,
Means of Squares.
Divide the outer frame of the original, by any num-
ber of fquares, at pleafure; always taking care that
they be exact: then, into precifely the fame number
of fquares, divide the fpace allotted to the copy; the
interfe&ions of the lines will give fo many points of
certainty, that the forms of the objefts reprefented
may be procured wTith great corre£tnefs.
N. B, For greater accuracy it is bell: to number,
and mark, the fquares, that one may not be miftaken
for another. By this mode, a large picture may be re-
duced to the fize of a drawing: or a drawing may be
transferred to a pi&ure of any fize whatever.
