PLATE XXV.
PROPORTIONS OF THE ORDERS ON THE SAME HEIGHT.
AS Plate XXVI. represents the Orders on the
same module, shewing their increase in height, this
Plate shews their increase in slenderness; and is
designed to fix the general appearance of each Order
more firmly in the reader's memory : and especially,
the appearance and proportions of the column,
when separate from its base and pedestal.

PROPORTIONS OF THE ORDERS ON THE SAME MODULE.
THIS plate shews the proportions of the orders
to each other on the same module ; the progressive
elevation and tapering of the shaft, and the ad-
vances of richness and ornament, is apparent.
The difference of the Orders may be gathered
by the eye from these subjects; as they are placed
together for the sake of comparison: but their
peculiarities will appear more distinctly in the larger
examples.
