Contents :—
Officia ecclesie. [Manuale.]
[This title on upper margin of fol. 1 is in a much later
hand.]
The volume contains, with some slight variations, the
usual Manual Offices according to the Sarum Use.
This Use was followed in the Diocese of St.
David’s, in which was the parish of Crickadarn.
In a blank space on fol. 56b is the following charm for tooth-
ache :
Maria sedebat super munterra [usually petram or
lapidem] Jhesus venit
Ad earn et valde tristis mater mea quare hie
Sedes ilia tamen die fill me dentes mei
dolent quod non possum dormire nec vigilare
Dicit et Jhesus surge et vade et amplius non nocet
Te nec alicui homini qui ista verba super se portaverit.

W probably for Omega.

P.3, v. Vellum : 9 x 61 : ff. 193 : Cent, xii-xiii.
Old binding, with title on back : Sermones. Double columns
of 39-50 lines : no ornament.
The front cover is lined with part of a closely-written treatise
apparently on the death of the righteous.
The lining of the last cover is part of an antiphonary, with music
in neums, containing Antiphons to Benedictus and Magnificat
for part of the second and third weeks in Advent. It agrees
with the Sarum Use rather than that of Hereford.
On the first fly-leaf :
Ricardus de Newinton dedit hunc librum prioratui
Hereford.
This must be St. Guthlac’s, since the Franciscan books usually
have their shelf-mark, and a quite different inscription.
