returned to Paris immediately in 1945. It was during
this year that the critic wrote a text about Jewish art
and its characteristics published in the catalogue of
the Galerie Jan-Marc Vidal. A year later he became
the editor-in-chief of the periodical 'Art et Industrie',
in the years 1956-9 he was editor-in-chief of the peri-
odical 'Prisme des Arts'. George published articles
in both periodicals. Most of his texts, books and ex-
hibition catalogues dealt with painters and sculptors
from the Ecole de Paris. He also wrote about artists
whom he had promoted before the war.
Waldemar George died suddenly of a heart
attack on 27th October 1970 in Paris. According to
his own wish he was buried in Saint-Martin des

over a hundred books, and hundreds of articles. He
stated his, often very controversial, opinions boldly.
The critic discovered and promoted a great number
of young, foreign artists. He wrote with expertise,
erudition and talent about various branches of art.
Waldemar George was an interesting personality,
whose opinions on art are most certainly worth re-
calling.
