of a human leg and thigh; in his right hand two spears; at his
side is an archer with a pointed cap and a short chiton ; behind
the charioteer, leaving the scene, is another warrior in the
Greek panoply, and accompanied by an archer; on his
shield are three pellets; 3. lion and boar, facing each other,

part of his body covered with embroidered drapery, his head
bound with a fillet, his left elbow resting on a cushion; at his
side on a small table are a kantharos, three figs and three un-
known objects; the couch is supported on legs of metal,
inlaid with the honeysuckle ornament; those at the head have
capitals resembling those of the Ionic order; under the couch
are the club, bow, and quiver of Herakles,—above, hanging on
the wall are his sword and the lion's skin, and the name HEPA-
KVES, written from right to left; behind Herakles stands
Pallas Athene, about to place a wreath on his head; she wears
