her left hand she holds a fruit and palm branch; in her
right, which is drawn back, is some annular object, of which
the lower half is broken away; behind her right arm is an
owl; her hair is gathered up under a cap; her drapery
falhs in thick folds over her bosom and upper arms. This
relief is very rudely carved. Length, 2f in. by 2| in.

No. 5. Eelief. Upper half of male figure, who has both
hands raised behind as if holding something, perhaps a
wine-skin, behind his head; his body terminates at the
waist in drapery, of which the folds are continued round
the right side; his hair is expressed by straight parallel
lines ; the face looks to the front. Length, 3 in. by 2\ in.

No. 6. Grotesque figure carved in the round; probably
intended to represent an ape; the head is human; the
body, which is naked, appears to be that of an ape squatting
on its hind quarters, with the fore-paws hanging down in
front; the hair is straight, and arranged in parallel lines,
falling down to the nape of the neck. Height, 2\ in.

No. 7. Draped male figure; the arms close to the sides,
a mantle wound round the body. Very rude. The head
pierced for suspension. Height, 2-| in.

No. 8. Pendant in form of bird, sculptured in the round;
beak hooked; body very plump; wings very small, and
rudely represented by parallel oblique lines. Perhaps this
represents a half fledged bird. Pierced through the wings
for suspension. Height, 2j in. Detken, pi. i. e.

No. 9. Female head in the round. The hair is shown
on the forehead, and is partially concealed by a cap placed
on the back of the head. Height, If in. Detken, pi. ii.

No. 10. Mask; full face; eyes very open; hair repre-
sented by parallel oblique strokes. Height, 3^ in. by 2^
iu. Detken, pi. iii.

No. 11. Mask; full face; hair represented by zigzag
lines ; ears very forward. Height, 1\ in. by 2^ in. Detken,
pi. iii.

No. 12. Mask ; full face ; the head rises high above the
brow; the back of the head appears to be covered with a
cap. Height, 2f in. by 1|- in. Detken, pi. iii.

No. 13. Mask; full face ; much worn ; a cap is indicated
at the back of the head. Height, 2^ in. by 2^ in. Detken,
pi. iii.
