one side broken away. Under the base, unintelligible marks
engraved. Fierced transversely under centre of body.

No. 18. Oblong plate. Within a raised border, horse, in
relief, galloping to the right; behind him a bird pecking
his rump ; the hairs of the tail are represented by incised
zigzags ; under his feet lies a palm branch (?). On the
reverse of the plate two zigzags in relief; between them
an oblong space. The relief in this pattern is obtained by
cutting away the ground. The pattern has at first sight
an Egyptian character, but cannot be recognised as the
copy of any Eg}-ptian symbol. Length, in. by 1 in.
No. 19. Bull reclining; in very high relief; on thin
oblong base; head turned to the front. On the bottom of
the base are two rows of zigzags separated by parallel
lines, all incised; pierced transversely under the centre of
the body. Length, ly\j- in.; width, ^ in.
No. 20. Grotesque male mask ; the lips very thick, the
bridge of the nose depressed, and with a furrow down
the centre; the outer corners of the eyes very high; the
forehead and upper part of the head broken away at
the place where the ivory has been pierced transversely.

No 21. Bull reclining, with legs doubled under body,
and head turned back over shoulder ; the sockets for the
eyes are empty. Pierced transversely under the centre of
the body. On a thin oblong base, under which is a pattern
formed by diagonal lines. Length, 1 in. by y7^ in.
No. 22. Ape carved in the round. He is seated, his hands
raised to his mouth, his elbows resting on his knees; the
sockets for the eyes hollow. Height, 1^ in.
No. 23. Bull, rudely carved in bone (?). Length, in.
No. 24. Bull's face, biikranidn, rudely carved out of
bone. The eyes are inserted in silver; on the forehead
are zigzags rudely incised to imitate hair; the nose
notched with oblique lines. Pierced between the horns
for suspension. Height, li in.
No. 25. Cow's face, rudely carved out of bone ; pierced
for suspension between the horns. Height, 1-| in.
No. 26. Eight leg and thigh, broken off above the hip;
