The body is almost globular. Light brown clay ;

rings of dots. Two narrow bands below the design and at the foot, and on
top of the false neck a thin spiral coil; handles edged.

[The shells are represented as tied together and hung by a
cord from false neck and handles. For the motive see A 881, note.]

FALSE-NECKED JAR, similar to last. Ht. 4I in. From
Crete, 1875. Furtwangler and Loschcke, Myk. Vaseu, pi. xiv,

Shape and fabric exactly as last, and similar
marine design : on one side, a conventional cuttlefish,
on the other a nautilus. In the field are circles, rings
of dots and cross-hatched lozenges. (Figs. 157, 158.) rig- is7 = a7i7.

conventional nautilus'; on the other, two triangles with hatched angles. Three
thin bands below design and one on foot.
