curved body, and design arranged in a narrow band on.

linked spiral coils with chevron-filled
angles ; 2 has probably groups of
vertical chevrons, and a group of curves
with barred end, in the manner of

BOTTLES, fragments.

Globular body, with tall neck and two vertical handles, as A 886-9 (Ialysos),
C 561, etc. (Cyprus). Each half of the body was occupied by a series of
concentric circles or a large spiral coil, and in the vertical band which separates
these are various figures: 1-4 have flowers in the vertical separating-band,
5-7 have tree-like branching figures, 6-8 have stripes of looped double-hooks,
9 has repeated chevrons alternating with single loops, 10 has parallel chevrons
and 11 has detached spiral coils. No. 4 has dull light brown clay and brown
varnish; 1-3 and 10 have brown-black varnish on lustrous yellow surface; the
rest have red varnish as last. No. 11 consists of three large pieces, including
half the foot, and has been restored as a complete vase. (Fig. 268.)
