The central panel of the Wiocław triptycli of 1468, formerly in the Wrocław Cathedral, now
in the National Museum in Warsaw, shows Christ on the Cross on the Mount Calvary, assisted
by the Virgin and St John the Evangelist — thus, a historical event (fig. 8a). On the left wing
of this retable St John the Baptist is pointing to the Crr.cified (fig. 8a, 8b). His gesture proves
that at that moment the prophecy on Jesus — the Paschal Lamb became true. The text of
the prophecy is inscribed in the upper part of the wing: ECCE AGNTJS DEI QITI TOLLIT
PECCATA MUNDI.53

The painting executed at about 1490 by Antonio delia Corna (fig. 9)51 repressnts Eucharistic
Christ according to the iconographic formuła of the Imago Pietatis. On the left, in front of the
sarcophagus, St John the Baptist stands, pointing with his right forefinger to Jesus while in
his left hand he holds a scroll with the end of his wording: ECCE QUI TOLLIT PECCATA
