triplicated trikorium areb, seen in l>so. 35, baving a small column under tbe
bead ok tbe including sweep, is nearly similar to tbose ok tbe eboir; but tbe mould-
ings ok tbis are plain, wbilst tbose are surrounded b^ tbe ragbag and otber orna-
ments. Um upper tier ok arebes, represented in tbe same print, bave been altered
into tbeir present form krom tbe ancient l^orman arebes, as slmwn in tbe lekt com-
partment ok /VlZte l^o. 36, as bave also all tbe otlmrs in tbe same line on botb sides
ok tlm nave; but tbose ok tbe eboir remain in tbeir original state. In tbe same
compartment is exbibited tbe borse-sboe areb opening to tbe soutb aisle, witb its
several ranges ok sigrag and billet mouldings, togetber witb tbe cbequer-like
string course beneatb tbe triplicated areb, and wbieb is common, in tbe same
situation, to all tbe unaltered parts tbrougbout tbe ebureb. Iklm adjoining division
is particularly remarkable kor its tbree-kold ^nglo-l^orman window, wbieb is
evidently an approaeb towards tbe bgbtrmss ok pointed arebiteeture, and tbe
lancet-pointed arcade, below it, adds mueb to tbe interest, as tbis part partakes ok
tbe ebaraeter ok botb stales, and tbus slmws tbe gradual transition ok tbe one into
