dote of a friend of his, who was formerly
a brother of this convent. He is known
by the name of Fra Pasqual, and has
passed through many singular scenes of
life, which it would be too long to re-
count. His last migration, or, if you
will, transmigration, was from one of the
banditti of this kingdom, in which ca-
pacity, he had been enrolled for some time ;
but, tired of the danger and fatigue to
which he was perpetually exposed, he at
last determined to exchange the character
of the hero, for that of the saint, and try
