TRANSLATION. xlix

395. 0 men, gods, spirits, fiends, the damned, the Amu, the Blacks, the

Asiatics, and the people of the countries of every land round about

396. the people of Egypt, look not upon her in order to perform hostility

to her; but look at her, and make adoration to her as to Ra every day:

397. for she is a person with a million hands, she is Horus in %ebit, may

men, gods, spirits, and the damned look upon her [to perform]

398. adoration to her.

She knows the names of Ra.

0 Shining One, Giver of Light, thou who makest all faces to awake
upon their

400. seats, thou who rousest up the gods in their temples and men in their
houses,' An-matef' is thy name; ' Hastener, shining in heaven' is thy
name; ' Resting in the Tiiat' is thy name ; ' Bull in the moment
Great one'

402. is thy name.

Come then, ye gods, to the divine spouse An^nesraneferab, triumphant:

404. by night, by day, and at every instant, defend ye her from the attacks
and destructive designs of the Amu, the Blacks, the Asiatics, and from
all the people of Egypt, and of the countries of every land, et cetera.

406. Defend ye her from the disasters of Horus inflicted by Sut, from the
mastery of Se^et, from the oppression of Serket, from the blood of
Bast, and from the damned, male and female, et cetera.

408. She is a god without an equal, she makes herself to triumph over the

whole world, and covers herself like the Mesat bird, the Mangier.

409. Sept has provided her with his provision.

She is Horus Shetet, she is Thoth making prescriptions for the gods at
the

411. fields of the Se^et-Aaru: she is not deprived of Destiny and Fortune,

the attributes which he has made to exist for her, by what he did for
her.

412. Let no eye look upon this writing, let no god hit upon it, let not a

goddess overcome her by it; and let not the hearts of the people of
Egypt, or the Amu, or the Blacks, or the Asiatics seize it, in order to

414. make hostility against her with reference to what she does.

415. The rays of the Sun's disk make her triumph, silently, silently, glorious,

glorious ! Let no demon, male or female, look at her on this day, for
she is in his disk.

416. A mighty miracle is wrought for her before the face of all mankind.
She causes delight by driving away terror.

She is the great examiner in Sesu.
