HYPOCEPHALUS OF
SHAI-ENEN* Utiqim^.t
This interesting object is made of linen covered
with plaster, and measures 8 in. in diameter; the
inscriptions upon it are traced in black ink upon a
yellow ground. The hypocephalus represented the
" Eye of Horus," and was placed under the head of
the mummy, in which it was supposed to keep warmth
until the revivification of the body. The line of
inscription around the edge reads :—
