The figure is playing on the double flute; the execution is coarse, and the surface
decayed.

48. Statuette of calcareous stone. Height, 9^ inches. Found in the temple (Golgoi).
Figure blowing the double flute. Surface worn, and features defaced. The left leg

is a little in advance of the right; the body is also somewhat turned to the left. The
ears are abnormally large; over a long robe falling to the feet is an upper fold, or
diplo'is, with plaited folds on the left side. A mouth-strap (phorbeia), attached to the double
flute passes round the neck, below the back hair, and is supported by a side-strap in front of
the ears, passing over the top of the head. The hair is curled in regular locks on the
forehead. On the head a garland, or twisted fillet. Traces of red color on the feet
and straps.

features defaced; execution coarse; the head thrown back, wearing a broad head-dress.
