456. Head, of calcareous stone. Height, 81 inches. Found in the temple (Golgoi).
Female figure, with frisure in tresses, dividing from a central parting, and falling

behind to the shoulders; plain band over the forehead, with row of curls in front. The
tip of the nose was broken in digging it out of the earth. Traces of red color on
the lips.

457. Head, of calcareous stone. Height, 8i inches. Found in the temple (Golgoi).
Female figure, with wreath of flat leaves, arranged symmetrically over the forehead.

The hair is arranged in a row of formal, but very carefully executed, curls. The work-
manship of the face affords an example of the refined execution of archaic sculpture.

458. Head, of calcareous stone. Height, 6f inches. Found on the site west of the
temple (Golgoi).

Flute-player. The back of the head is wanting; in the mouth fragments of the
double flute. The head-dress and eyebrows are indicated by raised surfaces. Ear-rings of
the usual spiral shape.

459. Head, of calcareous stone. Height, 4^ inches. Found in the temple (Golgoi).

Female figure, with frisure in bands, drawn from a central parting; over the fore-
head a fillet, which appears from under the hair in the centre. Traces of red color on
the fillet and lips. The left ear is partially broken off.

460. Head, of calcareous stone. Height, 61 inches. Found on the site west of the
temple (Golgoi).

Female figure, with head-dress in the Egyptian style, falling behind the ears, with-
out detail. The nose is damaged, and the surface is defaced and worn.

461. Head, of calcareous stone. Height, 4« inches. Found on the site west of
the temple (Golgoi).

Female figure, with head-dress like No. 460, without detail. Slight indication of
