475. Statue, of calcareous stone. Height, 3 feet 5J inches. Found in the temple
(Golgoi).

Male figure, with short-sleeved coat, cut away at the waist in front and rear,
with side-flaps. A large band, or folded garment, hangs over the left shoulder, and is
bound in front and at the back by a girdle of cord knotted on the left side in front. An
under-garment, clinging to the form, falls from below the coat nearly to the knees, and
is represented in vertical folds over the thighs, with oblique folds between the legs. At
the left side hangs a small flask, or pouch, and a dagger; the hilt, and the left hand
which grasped or rested on it, are wanting. The hair is short on the neck, and
arranged in a frisure of twisted tresses and spirals; it is bound round the head
with a diadem, on which are rosettes in relief; in front of the diadem the hair ends
in formal curls over the forehead and temples. The right arm is slightly raised; the
hand and wrist, and the legs, from the knees down, are wanting. A piece is broken
from the right side of the head, and the surface is hacked.
