Large vases of red ware ; body nearly obovate, or reversed pear-shape; ground color of
all apparently red. All are probably within the class or kind called amphora; though they may
be (especially No. 903) of the class called stamnos. All found at Curium.

901. Height, 12^ inches.

Thick foot, flaring at base ; narrow cylindrical ring at mouth ; handles set vertically,
furrowed. Decoration, mere bands or lines about the vase, with also, on the handle zone, three
large brown discs in a horizontal line, on each side.

902. Height, 15 inches.

Very low foot; neck short, with flat rim. Handles set horizontally, furrowed ; and from
the top of each an auxiliary handle extends to the rim. Piece broken away on the rim.

903. Height, 14 inches.

Foot large, bell-shaped ; handles set horizontally ; mouth a large beaded rim. Decorated
with horizontal bands and zones of concentric-circle patterns. Chipped slightly on the foot.

904. Height, 19 inches.

Rather high, flaring foot; very short, cylindrical neck, and wide rim. Handles set verti-
.cally, and joining the lip ; furrowed. Slightly chipped on the rim ; foot broken, and reset.
