Stamp impressed more than once, making the reading difficult. Perhaps the last letter is y, but s
is the apparent reading. If this is correct, the name of the Doric month is in the nominative.

Right hand, rectangular stamp; i5^x)4 inch. Letters, ^ inch high; in one line, with
emblem, bunch of grapes (or ear of corn ?)

ning destroyed by a disturbance of the clay before baking. Emblem, a dolphin and a pome-
granate.

diameter. Letters have their bases toward the centre, reading from within.

a. Letters Vie to /$ inch high. Stamp only partly impressed, and a gap in the inscrip-
tion. The space where the stamp is defective would have held about five letters, or possibly six;
but the clay evidently spread or stretched after the impression. A trace of a letter at the begin-
ning of the gap in the second word looks like 1, but it is uncertain. Instead of moy the true
reading may be noy, but the stroke needed to make an m of the n is there, whether by acci-
