The Castle.

35. Edingen , a village, on the third curve of the Neckar.
36. Seckenheim. Considerable village , below Edingen.
37. The Providence - church, with its lofty steeple, in the
suburb of Heidelberg.
38. The Schwabenheimerhof, a little way above Seckenheim.
39. Ilbesheim. A village, on the right bank of theNeckar,
between the second and third curve.
40. Feudenheim. A village, on the righthand of the farm
of Schwabenheim.
41. The Klingenthor, at Heidelberg, partly hid by the
trees of the foreground.
42. Neckarhausen, a village, on the left bank of the Neckar.
43. Kdferthal, obove the last mentioned one.
44. The Quarry, among de vineyards of the Heiligenberg
(S. 53). The publickhouse , near it, goes by the same name.
45. Ladenburg, the oldest town in the valley of the Ne-
ckar, with de steeples of the beautiful church of St. Gallus,
on the right hand of Neckarhausen (v. 42) , on the right bank
of the river.
46. Worms, the capital of the ancient Franks, celebrated
both in history and poetry (Song of the Nibelungen) with a
fine cathedral, above Ladenburg (on the left bank of the Rhine.
Rhenish • Hessia.
47. The Crane, close by the Neckar, behind the mews
(St 5o).
48. The University, with its turret, half hid by trees.
49. The Academical Hospital, with a medical and surgi-
cal institution , for the reception of academical and other pa-
tients together with rooms for lying in womenj a building
with a steeple, on the right hand,
50. The University - stables, behind the hospital, with a turret
on both sides.
51. The Rom. catholic Parishchurch, formerly belonging
to the Jesuits ; it is almost entirely hid by trees, and you can
see part of the front only, ornamented with statues.
52. The Bergstrasse (Mountain-road) , beginning at the
foot of the Heiligenberg, and then stretching thro’ Neuenheim.
53. The Heiligenherg (Holy-mount), known already to
the Romans, by the name of Mons Pirus. Clodwig built a
church on its summit, and Tilly occupied, it, in the siege of
Heidelberg in the thirty years war. A pretty convenient road
