I. IT being essential to the future security of the dues of Government
and of the rights and property of individuals, that all accounts and papers
regarding the assessment, the allotment of the revenue on the shares of
estates that may be divided, as well as all other documents in any respect
relating to the public demand upon the lands, should be carefully pre-
served ; and the Governor-General in Council deeming it reasonable that
the individuals, whose rights and property may derive additional security
from this institution, should contribute towards defraying the expense
attending it, the following rules have been accordingly enacted.
