inventor of the diadem. Several statues exist exhibiting a great
resemblance to this bust. Perhaps the best is that in the Ince
Blundell Collection. There is also another in the. Torlonia Collec-
tion ; and a group of Bacchus and Ampelus in the Museum at
Florence, in which the head of Bacchus may be aptly compared
with the one before us.

This bust has been already engraved in the Specimens of
Ancient Sculpture published by the Society of Dilettanti.(4)

The head only is antique; the nose has been restored, and the
two first curls at the sides of the cheek. It is in Parian marble,
and in height, without the restored portion, 10£ inches.
