Consulares, to whom the administration of Italy was entrusted.
He then became Pro-Consul of Asia, and on the death of iElius
Csesar was adopted by Hadrian in February, a.d. 138. On this
he became his adopted father's colleague in the Tribunitial and
Proconsular power. Antoninus became Emperor on the death of
Hadrian in July, a.d. 138, and reigned peacefully till March, a.d.
161, when he died, at the advanced age of 75.

This head, which is perfect except the tip of the nose, is in
Parian marble. The bust is modern. It is 7\ inches high.
