be as late as the middle period of the Seleucidas, the name of
Tryphon being, perhaps, assumed by a private person in honour
of the monarch of that name.
The inscription is imperfect; but there is room enough on the
fractured and restored part of the lintel to the right for either

The present monument, which is of Pentelic marble, was dug
up at Athens, prior to the Greek revolution, and purchased of
the Rev. R V. I. Arundell.
It measures 5 feet 11 inches high, by 3 feet broad. The right-
hand corner has been restored.
