From the copy of an Arabic inscription, beautifully cut
in stone in the Toghra character, some years since attached
to this building, it appears to have been founded in a. h. 932,
corresponding with a. d. 1525, by Sultan Nasarat Shall,
son of Sultan Husain Shah, son of Sayacl Ashraf, surnamed
Husaini. A great proportion of the ornamented parts of this
mosque have of late years been taken away.—See Stewart’s
Hist, of Bengal, p. 114.
